Based on the work of Reddington an electrooptical high throughput method for the fluorescence-based screening of powder materials towards their methanol electrooxidation activity was established and validated. The efficient quantification of the fluorescence development detected with a monochromic camera system over up to 60 materials in parallel was faciliated by the developed design of the working electrode array. The electrode preparations needed were obtained by a specially tailored coating routine. A high automation of the test sequence was obtained by the development of a software solution for an automated image processing followed by a fully automated data analysis and -visualisation. The high troughput screening, including precious metal-free and precious metal-containing materials, led to the identification of active compounds with a low Pt content. Validation of the methanol electrooxidation activity was accomplished by cyclic voltammetry. |
