Abstract

This presentation explores the intersection of electronic publishing, Open Access, and alternative licensing models. It covers the services provided by the Saarland University and State Library (SULB), including institutional and disciplinary repositories such as SciDok and PsyDok. The talk discusses the differences between Closed Access and Open Access models, highlighting the benefits of Open Access in terms of visibility, accessibility, and dissemination. Additionally, it introduces alternative licensing frameworks like Creative Commons and Digital Peer Publishing Licenses, emphasizing their role in retaining authors' rights and promoting a more open scholarly communication system.
