Abstract: This presentation investigates the development of interoperable usage statistics for open access repositories, with a focus on the Open Access Statistics (OAS) project. It examines challenges in standardization, technical infrastructure, and data processing required to generate reliable metrics. The session discusses the benefits of usage-based impact measures as a complement to citation-based metrics, emphasizing their potential to enhance repository visibility and incentivize open access publishing. Examples of international collaborations and future directions for improving repository networks and metrics are also provided.
