In the case of driver assistance systems and future autonomous driving, new requirements are being added to the end-of-line commissioning of the safety-critical mechatronic functions in the vehicle. Due to extensive workflows on the corresponding test benches, the commissioning of environment sensors at the end-of-line in the vehicle assembly represents a significant time and cost factor. In addition, hedging for the commissioning of the safety-relevant and autonomous driving vehicle systems will therefore be unavoidable, because only safe vehicles will be allowed to leave production and move in road traffic. Since the amount of driver assistance systems in vehicles will increase in the near future, it is necessary to develop an efficient commissioning strategy in order to avoid test bench overloads, to hedge functional safety of the vehicle systems properly in production and to minimize the process costs. In this work, a solution strategy is developed to determine the geometric driving axle of the vehicle already in the assembly line, as it is a relevant reference for commissioning. The process shifting is to be realized by a qualified wheel adaptation system in combination with a developed target module. These new technologies therefore allows a lot of commissioning processes to be automated on the assembly line, which are particularly used for autonomous driving and electrified vehicle technologies.
