Abstract: This paper presents the different sources of the presumption of innocence in the German legal framework: the principle of the rule of law rooted in the German constitution, the European Convention on Human Rights, and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. After that, the constitutional and European remedies for violation of the presumption of innocence are discussed.
