In the present work the Discrete Electromagnetism (DEM) with shape forms of higher polynomial degree has been analysed. In this method partial differential equations of electromagnetism are reformulated to the calculus of differential forms and subsequently discretized. Continuous differential forms have discrete counterparts, which are called discrete differential forms or cochains. Thus a natural discretization of forms and operators acting on them is possible. A localization of degrees of freedom on generalized mesh elements, which are presented here, reveals the common structure of low order DEM and the new higher order method. |
