Abstract: Fluorophosphate glasses can combine low melting temperatures with a good chemical durability. In order to vary optical properties while retaining other features some new compositions were synthesized and some of their properties were investigated. The glasses were melted at 450°C by using SnO, PbF2, SnF2, NH4H2PO4 and NH4PF6 as raw materials. Metal fluorides like ZrF4 and ZnF2 were introduced, too. The Tg ranges between 87 and 141°C. Preliminary results concerning the transmission spectra in the UV, visible and medium IR range, the indices of refraction, and the densities are reported.
