Abstract: A review of the fabrication and characterization of thin ferroelectric films prepared by the sol-gel process since 1984 is presented. Single phase materials such as titanate, zirconate, niobate, tantalate and more complex relax or ferroelectrics and mixed titanate and zirconate are reported and their properties are discussed in relation to electric and electro-optic applications. © 1992.
