The result of a manual active thermography inspection is strongly affected by the examiner. Thus the quality of the inspection depends significantly on the so-called human factor. The Real-View-Thermography method developed in this thesis minimizes the influence of the examiner on the inspection result. The negative influences of the human factor in the common active thermography inspection procedure are investigated, emphasizing on the quality of the inspection and the usability of the inspection equipment. The intuitive design of the human-machine interaction has a positive influence on examiners’ concentration and thus on the quality of the inspection. The RVT method consists of several steps which eliminate these negative influences of the human factor. The most essential are the detection of local deficiencies in coatings to enhance the thermal emissivity, the context-sensitive visual feedback on a specimen during a measurement and the analysis of the measurement results directly on the specimen. The RVT method is evaluated using the acoustic and induction thermography. Thus the rise of the inspection quality and the improvement of the usability are verified. |
