In the present work the new compound cis-inositol-1,3,5-tri-O-acetate (Inota) has been syn-thesized by selective alkylation of the ligand cis-inositol. In addition, the combination of two cis-inositol units to 1,1‘-O-(ethane-1,2-diyl)-bis(cis-inositol) (bcI) was successfully achieved. Conformational analysis of the ligands and their intermediates in solution was studied by NMR-spectroscopy. Furthermore, single crystals of some intermediates could be obtained which were suitable for X-ray crystal structure analysis. The pKa values of Inota were determined by potentiometric titration experiments in KCl as well as tetramethylammonium chloride medium. Complex formation was studied in solution by potentiometric titration experiments with Na+, Li+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Mn2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Gd3+ and Eu3+, as well as in solid state by X-ray diffraction of single crystals with Fe2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+ and Nd3+. Especially in the latter case, the structure is characterized by su-pramolecular assembling in terms of an eighteen membered ring system. The crystal struc-ture of the complex Ti2Ca2(bcIH-6)2 * 17.5H2O could also be determined. Additionally, metal complexes of bcI with Lu3+ and Ta5+ have been synthesized and examined in terms of a potential application as X-ray contrast agent. |
